CHEEKTOWAGA, NEW YORK (March 2, 2016) – Fashion design has opened doors for Lackawanna student Uniqua Rolon, an aspiring clothes designer.
Uniqua will be exhibiting her designs along with 10 other students representing a total of eight local school districts at the “Limitless” fashion show. Students of the Erie 1 BOCES Fashion Design and Merchandising program will be modeling their creations on March 10 at Walden Galleria.
Uniqua has been working on vintage 1980s designs for the modern era. According to Uniqua, her inspiration came largely from TV shows and music performed by MC Hammer and Boy George.
“I have been in love with the 80s for as long as I can remember,” claimed Uniqua. “My initial inspiration for the fashion industry sprouted from the show, ‘America’s Next Top Model.’ I realized due to my shape and size I wouldn’t be able to make it as a model, so why not be the designer?”
