First Class Bass Charters Lake Erie Fishing Report: Week of July 4th

First Class Bass Charters Lake Erie Fishing Report: Week of July 4th

Water Temp; 71 degrees

Summertime patterns are starting to kick in.

SMALL MOUTH BASS action has been very good.  The deep water bites are starting to pick up.  Try drop shotting a Poor Boy's Erie Darter (mango-magic), about 24" off the bottom.  Shake the tip of your fishing rod to make the bait dance and dart along. Seneca Shoals has been reall hot for big bass. The Round House is starting to load up with good Smallies.

WALLEYE fishing has been real good.  There are lots of fish along the NY and Canadian border (line).  The Emerald Channel is starting to pick up for the walleye.  South Gap is still producing smaller fish.

PERCH bite is steady. There are good fish from Departure bouy to Meyers Reef.  Good electronics make all the difference. It's hard to beat one of the new Lowrance electronic-GM HD's with structure scan looking for pod's of fish.

WATER TEMP: 69 degrees. It's time to fish deep as the water temperature heats up.

SMALL MOUTH BASS: Action is as hot as it's been all year.  Small mouth bass can still be caught in the Buffalo Harbor.  The key to fishing the Harbor is dealing with all the weeds. Try throwing a Boo Ya  chartreuse 3/8 oz spinner bait with chartreuse willow blades ove the top of the weeds.

MEYER'S REEFand SENECA SHOALS have been producing some real big small mouth -- 5 lbs plus. Try dragging a Yum tube jig in green pumpkin in 25 foot to 35 foot of water.

WALLEYE fishing has been ok.  Lots of small fish around the harbor.  Seneca shoals has been a good place to look for bigger fish.

PERCH FISHING looks promising. Good pods of fish showing up from the departure buoy to Meyer's Reef.  Bigger bait, bigger fish.
