Where 2 Fish: Bass Moving Into Lake, Looking For Summer Homes

Where 2 Fish: Bass Moving Into Lake, Looking For Summer Homes

First Class Bass Charters Lake Erie Fishing Report

  • Water temp: 68 degrees
  • Smallmouth bass: The action is staying steady in the Buffalo Harbor.  Lots of fish are still up on the shallow flats.  The weeds are starting to get taller and thicker every day.  Try working the edges of the weeds with a tube jig. Most Smallmouth Bass are completing their spawning and are moving into the lake, looking for their summer homes.

NCAA Awards Three-Year Grant to Hilbert Athletics

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College is one of only seven institutions in the U.S. selected to receive a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant, making this the first time Hilbert has been awarded this highly competitive three-year grant.

The NCAA grant is designed to provide funding to D-III institutions seeking to develop professional administrative opportunities to enhance diversity and inclusion within an institution’s athletic program. With the grant funds awarded to Hilbert, a new compliance and student services coordinator/head women’s soccer coach full-time position will be created in athletics.

Where 2 Fish: As Prey Venture Offshore, So Must You

First Class Bass Charters Lake Erie Fishing Report

  • Water temp: 76 to 68 degrees
  • Smallmouth bass: Action is still steady in the Buffalo Harbor.  Bass in the 2 to 4 lb. range have moved up into the 6' to 13' flats in the harbor.  The weeds are starting to develop in these flats.  Try fishing a Booyah 3/8-oz. double willow leaf spinner bait, chartreuse blades and chartreuse skirts, over the top of the weeds.
  • Walleye:  The walleye fishing slowed down the first of the week at Smokes Creek.  There was a lot of fishing pressure over the weekend at Smokes.  Look for the walleye to start moving into deeper water.  Fish areas in the 40' depths.  Places to look: Seneca Shoals and Myers Reef.
  • Perch:  The perch fishing isn't as strong close to the Buffalo Harbor as it was earlier in the year.  The better fishing is moving west toward Cattaraugus Creek.  Look for fish in the 35' to 45' areas near Seneca Shoals.  Also try the deeper waters off of Smokes Creek.
