South Buffalo Catholic School Celebrates Weekly Masses

South Buffalo Catholic School's three campuses will continue to celebrate weekly masses with the students and faculty and extend an invitation for all in the community to attend.

Mass for Notre Dame Academy will be celebrated on Wednesday mornings at 8:30 at St. Martin of Tours Church, located at 1140 Abbott Road in Buffalo. Mass for Trinity Catholic Academy will begin at 9:30am on Thursdays at St. Teresa's Church,  1974 Seneca Street and an afternoon Mass will be celebrated at 1:45 on Thursdays at the St. Ambrose Worship Site of Our Lady of Charity Parish located at 65 Ridgewood Road in Buffalo.

The weekly celebrations are joyous occasions in which the students plan the Masses as well as lead the congregation in song.

Trinity Catholic Academy Conducts 9/11 Memorial

Students and teachers from Trinity Catholic Academy in South Buffalo held a memorial service in honor of the 9th Anniversary of 9/11.

Ambrose Catholic Academy Kindergarten Enjoy Storytime at Open House

The Kindergarten Class of Ambrose Catholic Academy began their school year with an Open House on Wednesday, September 8, 2010.  They were greeted by their teacher, Mrs. Maura Sheehan, the Principal of Ambrose Catholic Academy, Mrs. Laura Kazmierczak, and were treated to a story by Rev. Msgr. David Lee, Canonical Administrator of South Buffalo Catholic School.

A delicious breakfast was enjoyed by all the students and an energized game of "Mrs. Sheehan" Says, not to be confused by Simon Says, wrapped up this fun filled morning.

St. Francis High School Open House: September 26th & 27th

St. Francis High School to hold annual Open House

St. Francis High School will host its annual Open House on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Monday, September 27, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

 Students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades and their parents are invited to visit the school to meet faculty and staff members and join current Saint Francis High School students for a tour of the campus.

 The Open House will provide elementary school students an opportunity to learn about the academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs offered at the school.

 Saint Francis High School is a college preparatory high school for boys administered by the Conventual Franciscan Friars and staffed by both religious and lay faculty. The school is located at 4129 Lake Shore Road, Athol Spring, NY (Route 5 - Hamburg, NY).

Freshmen welcomed in West Seneca schools

Approximately 7,036 students will start the school year in West Seneca Central on Tuesday, Sept. 7. 

Incoming ninth-graders got a “jumpstart” on high school on Wednesday, Aug. 25, when both West Seneca West and East Senior high schools held freshmen orientation programs.

Freshmen and new students at West were invited to take part in the student-only Fresh Start program, led by the school’s upperclassmen. In addition to learning about academic and extracurricular activities, the freshmen took part in team-building challenges, including cup stacking, group jump rope and relay races.  

Later, West students were invited to a hot dog roast and formal orientation. East Senior also offered light refreshments, followed by an orientation for students and parents or guardians.

The West Seneca Central School District includes students from not only the Town of West Seneca, but also from Cheektowaga, Orchard Park and Hamburg.

Notre Dame Academy Benefits From Ed Tech Day

Notre Dame Academy of South Buffalo Catholic School recently participated in Ed Tech Day.

Since 2004, Ed Tech Day has enabled IT professionals to serve as volunteers helping educators set up computer labs, install or configure reliable networks, servers and install other types of technology for use in education.

As part of this year's Ed Tech Day, Notre Dame Academy benefitted from the installation of LanSchool, a software program which enables the instructor to monitor the students computer screens during instruction.
