Tapestry Charter High School- A School with its Eye on the Arts

From the time you enter the building, you know that Tapestry has an arts focus. The walls are protruding with art projects. Around every corner, there is something new to discover. Their new space allows them limitless possibilities.

The focus is present due to the dedication of the Director of Arts Education, Hannah Raiken-Schulman, who has helped to finalize classroom needs that include a new dance studio, music room, and visual arts space.

Tapestry Charter High School- Their New Space

Recently, I had a chance to visit the new Tapestry Charter High School with Allie Friedman from Buffalo ReformEd. In a little less than a year after it started, construction on the high school is complete. By the time we visited, it seemed like everyone had settled in. This new facility comes complete with an expanded library, MAC computer lab, new gymnasium, and plenty of space to hang the artwork. There are also some surprises along the way, such as a dance studio and a cafeteria with a theater space to help students engage in the visual arts, media and technology, dance, writing, music and theater.

School Spirit Prevails at West Seneca Crosstown Hockey Contest

High school seniors were celebrated at Monday’s boys varsity hockey match-up between cross-town rivals West Seneca East and West.

Prior to the game, senior athletes and their parents were honored in a brief ceremony on the ice in front of a standing room only crowd. As each senior was recognized, he presented his parents with a flower.

The National Anthem was then performed by East Senior’s men’s choral group, Crazy Guys of Ebenezer.

Though the game resulted in a 2-2 tie, the evening was marked with several other significant activities.

Throughout the night, East’s Trojan Nation club collected donations of winter hats, scarves and gloves for the needy. Trojan Nation, a character council and school spirit organization, also sponsored a half-ice shot competition between the second and third periods for those who made a donation.
