Pet Connection Programs Inc., a maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla, will hold two upcoming events to gather greatly needed supplies and raise funds for the organization.

A supply drive will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Petco store located at 330 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca. The nonprofit shelter is in constant need of the following items:

• Science Diet dry puppy food

• Instant white rice

A Statement Released by the Erie County SPCA

Hurricane Sandy can force East Coast animal shelters to close, leaving many animals with nowhere to go. The SPCA Serving Erie County may be called upon to help. In fact, Hurricane Sandy may cause animal rescue and housing emergencies right here at home. For these reasons, we're clearing the kennels to make room for dogs who fall victim to this howling storm.  Take advantage of this ghoulishly-great Halloween special!

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Suzanne Laba of the Buffalo Animal Shelter stopped by the Daybreak Saturday studios to show off Sally, an energetic and fully grown dog.

Sally will likely be bouncing around in her kennel when you bring her home, however she is a wonderfully sweet dog who walks well on a leash. She is about fully grown as of now, but may fill out a little bit with good food from a good home.

Many people may be unwilling to adopt a pet from the animal shelter, however that doesn't mean you still can't help. Right now the Buffalo Animal Shelter is looking to install a stereo system throughout the building. The idea is to play certain types of music to help relieve some of the dog's stress and anxiety.
