West Seneca resident Joe Kirchmyer, president of Kirchmyer Media and a long-time member of the Western New York communications industry, has penned his first book. Diamonds in the Rough, published by No Frills Buffalo, is now available on Amazon.com and will soon be available in local bookstores. A book-signing event celebrating the release of the book will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 24, at Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery, 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.

Diamonds in the Rough is a compilation of short sports-related stories spanning nearly 50 years. It covers everything from local sports leagues to cases of pure human survival.

Mark Kelso, a member of the Buffalo Bills’ four Super Bowl teams, wrote the foreword for Diamonds in the Rough. “You will reach back in your own past and rekindle experiences that you had, and it will bring a smile to your face,” said Kelso.

Kirchmyer is a graduate of Bishop Timon High School and Buffalo State College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Prior to opening Kirchmyer Media, he spent 20 years at The Buffalo News where he served as senior creative services manager. He has played and coached in numerous local sports leagues and has served as president of the West Seneca Youth Baseball Association. Kirchmyer is also the Buffalo Sports Examiner for Examiner.com.
