"Dissing" Dyngus Day Again: Anderson Cooper | News
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- As the organizers of Buffalo's Dyngus Day 2013 Festival put it with some comedic spin, Anderson Cooper, star of the CNN "360" program, has done a "180" when it comes to his promise.
They say Cooper's staff told them it "was on his calendar" to come for the celebration this year. That followed Cooper's 70 second giggle fit when he mentioned the Dyngus Day event in Buffalo as part of his "Ridiculist" segment. He later apologized to organizer Eddy Dobosiewicz during a televised conversation between them on CNN.
But now they say Cooper will be unable to attend because of a scheduling conflict with an appearance on CBS's "60 Minutes" program for which Cooper reports. That upsets plans to crown Cooper as the first ever "Pussy Willow Prince".
He has now been labeled as "PartyPooperCooper" and organizers are trying to mount a social media campaign to persuade him to appear in person for the festival.
The Dyngus Day events will go on as scheduled with a parade and various party stops at participating bars and restaurants. There will also be wrap up party at the Central Terminal.
For more information on the events and the social media campaign against Cooper you can go to a special website Dyngus Day organizers created.
