DeJac Reaches Settlement with New York State | News
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Two On Your Side has learned that Lynn DeJac has agreed to a $2.7 million settlement with New York State.
The settlement was reached on Friday.
DeJac sued over a wrongful conviction and imprisonment. DeJac was sent to prison for the death of her daughter - Crystallynn Girard, who was found dead in February of 1993. The mother from Buffalo insisted that she did not kill her daughter.
DeJac's conviction was thrown out after DNA evidence found inside Crystallynn, and in her bedroom, pointed to DeJac's boyfriend at the time, Dennis Donohue, as the killer.
DeJac and her attorney spoke at a press conference Tuesday morning. DeJac has also sued former Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark and the City of Buffalo Police Department as part of her wrongful conviction. She is hoping for a jury trial in those cases.
The lawsuit is for $30 million. DeJac's attorneys expect it to go to trial and say that could occur in about 18 months.
