South Buffalo, NY - No one wants to see vandalism at their neighborhood park especially when the vandalism is racist graffiti.
All of the hateful words, and even a swastika were spray painted over some of the murals near the entrance of Red Jacket Park in South Buffalo's Valley Neighborhood.
2 On Your Side was told that the graffiti first appeared earlier this week. Wednesday night members of the Valley Community Center came out and painted over the messages. Neighbors in the community were outraged.
Peter Ortiz told 2 On Your Side, "This is really crazy. You know what I mean. A lot of us come down to fish, to have a good time, to take it easy relax, you know what I mean. Enjoy the atmosphere, and then this stuff. It just doesn't make any sense."
Patty Dobbs added, "I got 2 grandchildren of my own and I don't want them to see this kind of stuff. Its just not right."
The Valley Community Center did file a complaint with Buffalo Police. The artist who did the murals said she was upset that vandals ruined what she recently painted on the walls.
