Mary Queen of Angels Teacher Earns Media and Technology Certification

Lisa Nau, media arts and technology teacher at Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Cheektowaga, was recently named a “Common Sense Media Certified Educator” by Common Sense Media, an organization “dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education and independent voice they need to thrive in a world of media and technology.”

“A Common Sense Educator is someone dedicated to teaching digital literacy and citizenship to young people using Common Sense Media’s materials,” said Miss Nau. “Getting certified as a Common Sense Educator is an official ‘stamp of recognition’ from Common Sense Media for your efforts. As far as I know I am the only one in the Buffalo area and only the 15th or so in New York State.”

Mary Queen of Angels School opened its hands-on Media Arts Center during the 2012-13 school year. The room features 10 Macintosh computers, 22 PCs, a SmartBoard, and digital photography and videography equipment.

Nau, who earned a bachelor’s degree in art education from Buffalo State College and her master’s of education in differentiated instruction at Canisius College, joined Mary Queen of Angels in 2012.

Mary Queen of Angels School is located at 170 Rosewood Terrace, Cheektowaga. For more information regarding the school, please visit www.mqangels.com or follow the school’s Facebook page for frequent updates.
