ECHDC Tables Vote on Modified Plan, Announces a Series of Open Houses

General Public invited to attend sessions and provide input into waterfront development plans

 The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) announced today that it will delay its vote on the Canal Side Modified General Project Plan (MGPP.) The MGPP emphasizes the development of public infrastructure on the Aud Block, including a series of public canals, walkways and a parking garage. In order to solicit more input from members of the Western New York community, ECHDC will be sponsoring a series of open houses over the next two weeks. 

Entries due Wednesday for all new Tree Ornament Competition at Festival of Lights

Show all of Western New York your best homemade tree ornament and have a chance to win a $50 Tops Friendly Markets gift card, cash premiums, waiving of creative arts entry fee for the 2011 Erie County Fair, and tickets to the Erie County Fair! 

Crafters are encouraged to bring their homemade tree ornament to the Erie County Agricultural Society’s Main Office (5600 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg, NY 14075) between the hours of  9:00am and 5:00 pm November 18th – November 24th and November 29th – December 1st.  After official judging the ornaments will be displayed during the Fairgrounds Festival of Lights in the Market Place Building where Festival goers will get a chance to pick their favorite ornament for the “People’s Choice Award”. 

Premiums are as follows:

1st place - $50 Tops Friendly Markets Gift Card, $40 cash, waiving of entry fee for 2011 Erie County Fair Creative Arts Department

Trocaire College to Host Artisan Show

Trocaire College will host its first Artisan Show on Saturday, November 20th from 11 am – 4 pm at the Russell J. Salvatore School located at 6681 Transit in Lancaster (behind Russell’s Steaks, Chops & More). 

All artists create handmade pieces - in jewelry, woodworking, photography and much more.  A portion of the proceeds benefits the Trocaire Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Primordial Strength to Offer Concussion Reduction Seminar to Area Athletes

Sports-related concussions have been all over the news lately, thanks in large part to some serious injuries that have occurred in recent NFL and NHL games.

From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, December 11, Primordial Strength Inc. — a leader in neck and trapezius training and the anti-concussion movement — will conduct a Concussion Reduction Seminar through Neck and Trap Training at the Lancaster Elks Lodge, 33 Legion Parkway. The cost is $40, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the annual Trench Trophy award event. The trophy is presented annually to Western New York’s high school “Lineman of the Year.”
