Group Plans Benefit to Help Man Who Needs Liver Transplant

The Friends of Ed Kostek will hold a fundraiser from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the Ironworkers Hall, 196 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.

Kostek is a West Seneca resident who has faced severe medical issues over the past few months and who is awaiting a liver transplant. He is a 1986 graduate of Bishop Timon and a South Buffalo native. The benefit has been organized because his medical condition has left him unable to work and to show family and friends’ support of him and his family.

"The transplant process and recovery period will be a long road for Ed, his wife, Kellie, and their three children," the group Friends of Ed Kostek stated on the event's Facebook page. "Despite having insurance coverage, the costs incurred from such a procedure and post-transplant care are substantial enough that we, as family and friends, are reaching out."

Tickets are $25 and include draft beer, wine, soft drinks and pizza. A basket raffle, 50/50 split club and other refreshments also will be available. Proceeds from the event will go to Kostek and his family to pay down medical expenses.

To make a donation, for tickets and for more information, call Margaret Maloney at 864-0987.
