Meet the Authors at the History Museum: Local Author Book-signing and Sale

The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society presents its annual Local Author/Buffalo Book-Signing on Saturday, Nov. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at the History Museum, located at 25 Nottingham Court at Elmwood Avenue.

The event is FREE and open to the public. It's designed for shoppers looking for personalized gifts in a relaxed atmosphere, features over 35 local authors selling and signing their books. The wide range of publications—including cookbooks, neighborhood, regional and military history, novels and coffee-table books—makes this a perfect opportunity to shop for a variety of tastes. All that and an autograph, too!

Giving Thanks For Another Year To Serve: Buffalo AmeriCorps Takes A New Oath Of Service

Buffalo, New York – November 23, 2010 – Buffalo AmeriCorps members represented Buffalo well as they attended the annual AmeriCorps kickoff held in Albany, NY by The New York State Commission on National and Community Service.

The event held on November 19th, 2010 united thousands of AmeriCorps members from New York State to take the AmeriCorps pledge of service, enjoy keynote speakers and partake in educational trainings such as: CPR/Disaster Preparedness and conflict resolution. A mass service project also took place were 3000 Christmas cards were signed and filled with inspirational messages by AmeriCorps members to send to American troops overseas.

Trocaire College to Host Artisan Show

A variety of talented local artisans will participate in a one day only show and sale to benefit Trocaire College – a portion of the proceeds from the show will support the Trocaire Alumni Scholarship Fund.  The “Artisan Show” will be held at Trocaire’s Russell J. Salvatore School located at 6681 Transit Road in Lancaster (behind Russell’s Steaks, Chops & More) on Saturday, November 20 from 11 am – 4 pm. 

Festival of Trees Will Provide Funds to Purchase New Electronic Fetal

Proceeds from the 2010 Festival of Trees will fund new Electronic Fetal Monitors for Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.   This gift, made possible in part by event sponsors like CGF Anesthesiology Associates, PC, Mark IV Industries Foundation, Tops Friendly Markets, Fisher-Price and the physician members of University at Buffalo Pediatric Associates, Inc., will enable the Hospital to replace all the monitors with the latest and most state-of-the–art equipment.  Constant monitoring and examination during the labor process will allow doctors to monitor progress and ensure the safest possible delivery with minimal complication for both baby and mother.
