The Historic Buffalo River Tour - 2013
The Historic Buffalo River Tour - 2013

The Historic Buffalo River Tour in its 28 year, has been and still is the best way to experience the Grain Elevators on Buffalos waterfront. The Industrial Heritage Committee, Inc. developed the first organized regularly scheduled Grain Elevator tours nearly 30 years ago attracting tens of thousands from around the world to Buffalo. These tours continue in 2013 starting on July 4th, and still offers the best, most comprehensive information regarding Buffalos waterfront, especially on the grain elevators, out there today.  The tour is continually upgraded and each one is never exactly the same as the last. The Historic Buffalo River Tour is in co-operation with Buffalo Harbor Cruises, operators of the Miss Buffalo II and leaves from their dock at Erie Basin Marina, Buffalo NY.

From your experienced guides, you will learn about the Erie Canal, the architecture, technology and general history of the elevators, flour mills, and other industry along the Buffalo River and the City Ship Canal, while taking in the green space and natural beauty of the area. Learn about the many re-use projects already done with grain elevators around the world and The Industrial Heritage Trail now being installed on the Outer Harbor. On board will be numerous photographs, maps, a grain scooper highlight video and other information to fully involve you in this unique educational experience suitable for all ages. So come on board, relax, take pride in your local heritage and learn things you never knew about Buffalo. These tours go out rain or shine and always sell out, so please plan ahead.

All Tours leave The Miss Buffalo Dock, Erie Basin Marina, Buffalo NY, at 12:30 P.M. and return at 2:30 P.M.  For reservations please call Buffalo Harbor Cruises at: (716) 856-6696
