Annual Fall Festival This Weekend at Burchfield Nature & Art Center

The Friends of the Burchfield Nature & Art Center have two fun-filled days planned for this year’s Fall Festival.

The Annual Fall Festival will take place Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7 at The Burchfield Nature & Art Center, 2001 Union Road in West Seneca.

On Oct. 6, a pie tasting contest will be held at 2 p.m. Anyone interested in seeing the entries, observing the judging and sampling the pies is invited to attend. Judging the pies will be Erie County Legislator Joseph Lorigo, West Seneca School Board Trustee Janice Dalbo and Rotary Club member Raymond Weimer. The judges will consider crusts, fillings and overall taste. Complimentary coffee will be served. After the awards are announced, guests may taste the pies for themselves. Slices will be available for $1.

The follow day’s activities will include vendors, games, music, refreshments, basket raffles and children’s crafts from noon to 4 p.m.

Popular naturalist Mark Carra will be on hand with many of his fascinating critters who come in a variety of sizes and from a wide range of environments. Messinger Woods volunteers will bring a couple of captivating birds. Additionally, Critter Ranch will be in attendance with a mother and baby llama. Fall Festival guests will have an opportunity to help choose a name for the baby.

Also on the schedule: the Town Band will perform while Boy Scout Troop 410 grills hot dogs. Baked goods will be sold with complimentary coffee and cider. Scoops & More will provide an ice cream stand for those who want to purchase a cool dessert.

The Fall Festival is an occasion to share food and fun, enjoy community camaraderie, crafts and critters, and raise funds to help provide classes, exhibits and other services at the Burchfield throughout the year.  The Friends of the Burchfield encourage community-minded, fun-seeking individuals of all ages to put it on their calendar. The event will take place rain or shine.
