Feeling a little creative? Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca, has several upcoming classes planned for both children and adults.

The next Try-It Saturday will run from 10 a.m. to noon on July 21, and the theme of the class will be rubber stamping and embossing. Students will participate in a fun project creating a set of note cards using inks, embossing powders, colored pencils and more. A class fee of $20 includes all supplies, and the deadline to register is July 19.

A beginner Wire Wrapped Jewelry class with artist Gary Melius will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the gallery. Participants will learn the mysteries of the wire-wrapped jewelry cold fusion style, which uses only wire to harness beautiful gemstones and other flat objects like sea glass. All materials and the use of tools will be provided, and students will take home their very own pendant creation. The class fee is $65 and the registration deadline is Friday, July 27.

Oil Painting: Disegno e Colore with artist Sara Zak, will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 1, 8, 22 and 29. Up until Moderism tore convention asunder, painters could often be divided into two camps: those who focused on drawing realism and those who focused on color realism. In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of each approach and try their hand at both. Over the course of four weeks, students will work on two paintings, one focusing on value to create form and the other focusing on color relationships to build a composition. The cost is $65 for gallery members and $75 for non-members. The registration deadline is July 28

Children’s classes are scheduled on Tuesdays for 7- to 9-year-olds and Wednesdays for 10- to 12-year-olds. Classes include paper collage, Aug. 7-8; altered art object, Aug. 21-22; and self-portrait in collage, Aug. 28-29.

“Ethereal Illusions” featuring photos by Tiffany Machelski, and “Nude Food” featuring photos by Brian Machelski, will be the gallery’s featured exhibit in August. An opening reception, free and open to the public, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, while the exhibit runs from Aug. 8 through Sept. 8.

Additionally, upcoming Wine Women & Art classes will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. July 19 and Aug. 23. The gallery’s “Summer Moments” amateur photo contest is also accepting entries through Aug. 4. A photography reception, with prizes, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11.
