Opening Reception for Latest Art Show Set for Friday at Burchfield Nature & Art Center | Arts & Culture

A new art exhibit at the Burchfield Nature & Art Center includes an array of landscapes, seascapes, flowers and more scenes inspired by nature. Viewers will enjoy artwork in a variety of media including watercolor, acrylic, oil, pencil and ink.

The art show, representing the painting careers of the late Rosemary Okoniewski Swanekamp and Edward Swanekamp will be open at the BNAC, 2001 Union Road in West Seneca, through Sunday, Aug. 19. The couple is well known for their contributions to art in the local community: Ed taught art in the West Seneca schools and founded the West Seneca Art Society.

Along with the Swanekamp retrospective, an exhibit of fairy houses created by several area artists will be on display. The fairy houses, called Nature Fantasies, connect nicely with the natural subjects of the Swanekamp show.

An opening reception for this latest show will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Friday, July 13. Refreshments will be served. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-4 p.m. on Sundays.
