The Division of Pediatric Surgery at Women & Children’s Hospital and the University at Buffalo are pleased to announce the appointments of Kathryn D. Bass, MD, FACS, FAAP, and Doruk E. Ozgediz, MD, MSc.

Kathryn D. Bass, M.D. has been appointed Director of Trauma at Women & Children’s Hospital. Dr. Bass was also appointed Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics, University at Buffalo Surgeons, Inc, Division of Pediatric Surgery, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.

Dr. Bass completed her undergraduate education and obtained her M.D. at Northwestern University in Illinois. Her general surgery training was done at New England Medical Center and her pediatric surgery training was done at The Children’s Hospital, in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Bass is board certified in General and Pediatric Surgery. Her clinical interests include teaching, research, minimally invasive surgery, morbid obesity and pediatric trauma.

Dr. Bass is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Pediatric Surgical Association, American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, American College of Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, International Pediatric Endoscopy Group, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and many others. Prior to Dr. Bass’s appointment, she was an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Texas Arlington.

Doruk Ozgediz, M.D. has been appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, University at Buffalo Surgeons, Inc, Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.

Dr. Ozgediz completed his undergraduate education at Harvard University and obtained his M.D. at the University of California at San Francisco.

His general surgery training was done at the University of California, San Francisco and his pediatric surgery training was done at The Hospital for Sick Children, in Toronto, Canada. He also holds a Masters Degree in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Dr. Ozgediz is board certified in General Surgery and board eligible in Pediatric Surgery. His clinical interests include global health, public health, surgery in developing countries, poverty and health, medical and surgical education, health services research, injury and trauma, emergency surgery, pediatric surgery and disaster medicine.

Dr. Ozgediz is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Public Health Association and American Pediatric Surgical Association International committee.
