Freshmen welcomed in West Seneca schools
Schools

Approximately 7,036 students will start the school year in West Seneca Central on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Incoming ninth-graders got a “jumpstart” on high school on Wednesday, Aug. 25, when both West Seneca West and East Senior high schools held freshmen orientation programs.

Freshmen and new students at West were invited to take part in the student-only Fresh Start program, led by the school’s upperclassmen. In addition to learning about academic and extracurricular activities, the freshmen took part in team-building challenges, including cup stacking, group jump rope and relay races.

Later, West students were invited to a hot dog roast and formal orientation. East Senior also offered light refreshments, followed by an orientation for students and parents or guardians.

The West Seneca Central School District includes students from not only the Town of West Seneca, but also from Cheektowaga, Orchard Park and Hamburg.
