Hot Spots Send Fire Crews Back to Scene

BUFFALO, N.Y. - An early morning fire from Thursday is still causing problems Saturday afternoon. Firefighters were on scene to check on hot spots that were reported Saturday morning.

It's been two days since the flames broke out at a warehouse housing the Superior Pallets Company on Dingens Street near the Buffalo/ Cheektowaga border. The flames were finally extinguished, and fire investigators are now looking into how the fire exactly was started. Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield says at this point they do not think there is anything suspicious about the blaze. But federal agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms are assisting in the investigation as a standard procedure according to Whitfield.

What they do know is that the damages from the massive blaze total $4 million.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - It was the first four-alarm fire in Buffalo in four years, it started at 4 a.m. and damage is estimated at $4 million.

When 3,000 wooden pallets ignited at a South Buffalo warehouse Thursday morning, the flames shot as high as 150 feet into the early morning air.

But the pictures above are worth a thousand numbers or words used to describe the blaze that peaked before sunrise but kept firefighters busy well into the evening putting out hot spots. Investigators are still seeking a cause.
